In 1975 a large, red barn was moved to Harwood Hill in Bennington and set among the apple orchards on Historic Route 7A. After a lengthy renovation, The Publyk House restaurant opened and enjoyed a rich history. Unfortunately, the restaurant fell on hard times and eventually was closed. After falling in love with the views and the charm of the old, red barn, Steven and Lauren Bryant purchased the restaurant formerly known as The Publyk House in August 2001. The following month, Hunter's opened its doors. With its new name, some interior improvements, the restaurant has been taken to a new level of excellence, and has once again become a favorite of the people of Bennington, as well as travelers from all over the world. Our goal is to provide a consistent quality dining experience with warm, capable hospitality.

Never stagnant, we keep changing and upgrading to meet our customers' expectations, including frequent upgrades to outside dining and interior decor. Our menu continues to stay fresh, changing regularly to offer the very best of seasonal ingredients.
